Davidsons have been in New England since the early 1600s. The families that are discussed here were Scottish and arrived in Pennsylvania in the early 1700s from Northern Ireland. Settling first in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, they were early settlers in the Shenandoah mountains in a community known as Beverly Manor in Augusta County, Virginia, worshipping at the Tinkling Springs Church. About 1749 the families migrated to North Carolina and settled in the region near what is now Statesville in Iredell County. From there the family moved over the course of the next 150 years to almost every state.
On the pages inside, we provide significant documentation to this famous family that includes General William Lee Davidson. However, our story is not complete. If you can add to the story or correct our mistakes or just have questions or comments about what you see, please feel free to contact us. We look forward to hearing from you.
