  	99 Dr. Leslie M. Lisle Bph, MD02 noted Columbus doctor died Dec 12 following an extended illness. A native of Roseville, O., he had practiced in Columbus since graduation from the old Starling Medical College. He maintained a large and active practise and many of his former patients will long remember the faith and good will that was so much a part of him. His interest in the University was a continual one and just three weeks before his death he listened to the Michigan game, cheering his alma mater. He was a member of the alumni association. His son Dr. Leslie Lisle, Jr., will succeed to his practise at 240 E. State.

  Osman Castle Hooper, History of the City of Columbus, Ohio: Dr. Leslie Mac Lisle was born at Roseville, Ohio, March 10, 1877. He received his early education in the public schools and graduated from Columbus High School. [error - he graduated from Marysville High School] He entered the Ohio State University from which he was graduated with the degree of Bachelor of Arts with the class of 1899. He then decided to follow in the footsteps of his father in a professional way and completed the prescribed course in Starling Medical College, and was graduated from that institution with the degree of Doctor of Medicine in 1902. After serving eighteen months as an intern at Mt. Carmel Hospital in Columbus and taking a six months post graduate course in New York City, he began the practise of his profession in Columbus, where he has since continued, taking a high rank among his professional brethren and meeting with success from the start. Dr. Lisle has been on the medical staff at Mt. Carmel continuously since 1902, and was assistant professor of medicine at Ohio State University from 1902 until he resigned in 1917 in order to give his undivided attention to his large and rapidly growing private practice. Dr. Lisle is a member of the American Medical Association, the Ohio State Medical Society and the Columbus Academy of Medicine. He also belongs to Kappa Sigma and to the Columbus Athletic Club. In 1906 Dr. Lisle was united in marriage with Ellen Brown who was born, reared, and educated in Columbus. She is the daughter of the late George W. Brown, who at the time of his death was vice president of the Case Manufacturing Company. To the doctor and his wife three children have been born: Leslie Mac, Jr., John C. and Ann. Lisle, physician, 240 E. State St., Columbus, Ohio, Leslie Mac Lisle, son of Dr. John Mac and Eva (Gates) Lisle, was born in Roseville, Ohio, March 10, 1877. Leslie M. Lisle attended grade schools and in 1894 was graduated from high school at Marysville, Ohio. He received an A. B. degree from Ohio State University in 1899 and in 1902 was graduated from Starling Medical College. He served as an intern at Mt. Carmel Hospital in Columbus, Ohio 18 months, after which he took graduate work at the Cornell University Medical College in New York City. He then returned to Columbus where he has since maintained a private general practise of medicine. From 1904 to 1918, Dr. Lisle served as a member of the faculty of Starling Medical College. He is a staff member of the Mt. Carmel Hospital. He is a democrat and a member of the following: American Medical Association, Ohio State Medical Association, Columbus Academy of Medicine (past vice pres.), Columbus Country Club, Columbus Automobile Club, Ohio State University Faculty Club, Kappa Sigma, Alpha Kappa Alpha, and Episcopal Church. His favorite recreations are golf and reading. In Dec. 1906 Dr. Lisle married Ellen B. Brown who was born in Ohio in 1883. Her parents are deceased. Her father George Brown was vice president of Case Manufacturing Company of Columbus, Ohio. This company is no longer in existence. Three children have been born to Dr. and Mrs. Lisle: (1) Leslie Mac, Jr. was born in 1909. He was graduated from the University of Virginia with an M.D. Degree. During World War II he served three years in the U.S. Army as a flight surgeon, both in India and China. He was discharged with the rank of major, and is now in the U.S. Reserves. Since his return he has been associated with his father in the practise of medicine. He and his wife Elaine (Berry) Lisle are the parents of two children: Leslie Mac III and Ellen Beth. (2) John B. who was born Aug 5, 1911. He was killed in Apr. 1940 while serving as a pilot with the rank of lieutenant in the Royal Candian Air Force. One child, Joan Lisle, was born to John B. and his wife Amelia (Bigelow) Lisle. (3) Ann who was born in 1913. She married Putnam Lee and they reside in Beford, N.Y. During World War II, Mr. Lee served as a pilot in the U.S. Marines in which he was a captain. ____________________________________ Mac, for a middle name, came from Grandmother's maiden name of "Mac Williams." He was baptised by the Rev. R. G. Ramsey. Les' early education was from public schools and graduated from Columbus High School. He graduated from Ohio State University, receiving a degree of Bachelor of Arts with the class of 1899. Leslie Mac Lisle was editor of the Ohio State University newspaper, "Makio." Deciding to follow in the footsteps of his father, he entered Sterling Medical College, graduating with a degree of Doctor of Medicine in 1902. He served 18 months as intern at Mt. Carmel Hospital in Columbus, followed by a post graduate course in New York City for 6 months at Columbia University. He then started his practice in Columbus. He had been on the medical staff of the Mt. Carmel Hospital continously since 1902, and assistant professor of medicine at Ohio State University from 1902-1917. He was a member of the American Medical Association, The Ohio State Medical Society, and the Columbus Academy of Medicine. He also belonged to Kappa Sigma, a Greek letter fraternity, and to the Columbus Athletic Club. He lived in Columbus first from before 1922 till just after 1930 at 1481 Madison Ave., Columbus, OH. Before 1932 until he died in 1949, he lived at 2511 Johnstown Rd., Columbus, OH.
