When we reached Columbo, Sri Lanka, we visited the grave of Joani's father, Jack Lisle, who had been killed in the only Japanese raid on the island. We found his grave without difficulty in the British Military Cemetery. His marker read: "John B. Lisle, killed April 20, 1942, flight pilot, sergeant, Royal Candian Air Force. Standing by his grave both Joani and I felt a deep emotion and wanted to cry. Jack Lisle seemed to be right there with us in a spiritual presence impossible to fully describe.
