- The Lisle Obsequies
Funeral services for T. G. Lisle, prominent Clyde businessman, who died last Wednesday, were held at the E. O. Fiser Funeral Home, Saturday afternoon at 2 o:clock conducted by Rev. Harry Griffith of Clyde Presbyterian Church. Burial was made in McPherson Cemetery. Pall bearers were Mayor J. J. Freeborn, Chas. Waugh, John Ropke, Ralph Sayles, E. E. France, Byron Myers. Many floral tributes were evidence of the high esteem in which Mr. Lisle was held in Clyde.
Mr. Lisle passed away at the Crile Hospital in Cleveland, Wed. April 8, at 8 p.m. [8:30 p. m.] as a result of a stroke suffered Tuesday. He went with his son Tom to Cleveland on Monday for treatment and was taken very ill that evening. Mrs. Lisle was summoned on Tuesday and another son Herbert of Columbus, both reaching there Tuesday evening. All were at the bedside when death came.
Thomas Gates Lisle, the son of Dr. J. M. Lisle and Eva Gates Lisle, was born at Pataskala, Ohio on Feb 8, 1881. He spent his early boyhood in Columbus where he graduated from North High School in 1899, and from Ohio State University, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity in 1903. He later went to Houston, Texas, and entered the real estate business. There he united in marriage to Miss Mesia Davidson on January 26, 1910. Later Mr. and Mrs. Lisle resided in Birmingham, Alabama for a few years.
The Lisles came to Clyde 20 years ago and purchased the variety store in the former Rabe block which business they have continued since. Two children were born to them, Thomas D. and Herbert A. Lisle, both of Columbus. Herbert is a student at Ohio State University in the sophmore class.
Mr. Lisle was a member of the Clyde Presbyterian Church and an elder in the church. He was a quiet and unassuming man who was much respected in this community. Besides his wife and two children, he is survived by a brother Dr. L. M. Lisle, one sister Mrs. J. G. Belknap, and his step mother Mrs. J. M. Lisle.

| Notes |
- After Thomas Gates Lisle graduated from Ohio State University, he and a partner went into business in Houston, Texas. The business failed when Tom's partner took away all of the business's money and left. They hired Artemesia Davidson of Houston to work for them as a secretary. In 1910, Tom married Artemesia. Because of the business failure, Tom took a job in Birmingham, Alabama, where their first son Thomas Davidson Lisle was born in 1911. Shortly afterwards, Tom and his family moved back to Ohio where eventually he bought a variety store in Clyde, Ohio, about 1915. Herbert Lisle was born at their home on Buckeye Street in Clyde in 1916. Sometime later, the Lisles moved into an apartment over the store on Main Street in Clyde.
