  Rose Anna Grueter was born in Massachusetts sometime after 1876. She was the third surviving child of Bernard GR?TER and Josephine MIETHE. She was baptized at Holy Trinity Church in Boston by Father F. X. Nopper and her godparents were Gerhard Blanke and Anna Klausmeier. Gerhard Blank was an uncle. She graduated from the Holy Trinity Grammar School where she learned to read and write pure German and correct English, taught by the German Franciscan Nuns from Philadelphia. At home, the family spoke the Platt Deutsch dialect of German. Rose worked in a ribbon store on West St. with her sister Mary. Rose married John Breen, and they had eight children, including Helen Harrison who has been the principal source of information on this family. Rose died of Hodgkin's disease at age 77. Source: 1.
