| Notes |
- John Guilford Lisle was born in Franklin County. He married Sarah Savely of Virginia in June 1839 in Franklin Co., Ohio. The family moved with John's brother Robert and sister Abigail Moore to Van Buren Co., Iowa about 1847, as evidenced by the birth states of the Moore children.
About 1852 John decided to travel West to Oregon. It has been reported that his wife Sarah died during the trip. He is reported to have arrived on 12 October 1852.
He married a widow named Mary from North Carolina about 1857 and they were living in Portland, Oregon area with two daughters according to the 1860 census, along with his son Irvin (Samuel Irvin Lisle), and two children of Mary's from her first marriage.
So far, I have not located him in the 1870 or 1880 census. He died in Umatilla County, Oregon in 1892 and is buried there.
