  Biography: Albert GRUETER was born in Massachusetts sometime after 1880. He was the son of Bernard GR?TER and Josephine MIETHE. He was probably baptized at Holy Trinity Church in Boston. He graduated from the Holy Trinity Grammar School where he learned to read and write pure German and correct English, taught by the German Franciscan Nuns from Philadelphia. At home, the family spoke the Platt Deutsch dialect of German. He worked in the bakery which belonged to his grandfather's cousin Henry. "Uncle" Henry was an excellent baker with his own shop on Broadway. During the high school years of the Breen girls, he supplied raisin pound cake for their lunches every day. He lived with his cousin Bernard Gr?ter's family for all of his life. It is not known his precise relationship. Albert and his sister Clara both worked for him; Albert baking, Clara selling.
