  Biography: Leo Herman Grueter Sr. was born in Massachusetts sometime after 1881. He was the youngest child of Bernard GR?TER and Josephine MIETHE. He was probably baptized at Holy Trinity Church in Boston. He graduated from the Holy Trinity Grammar School where he learned to read and write pure German and correct English, taught by the German Franciscan Nuns from Philadelphia. At home, the family spoke the Platt Deutsch dialect of German. He was the only one of the Grueter children to have secondary or college education; he graduated from Boston College High School and Boston College. Leo was very loyal and grateful to his oldest sister Josephine for paying for his education. He taught in the City of Boston High Schools for the remainder of his life. His sister Rose gave up a full year of work in the ribbon store to care for him as a baby because her mother was on crutches due to vein ligations. Leo married and had five children.
