  Franz Koy came to Texas in 1852 aboard the St. Peter to Galveston. His wife Matilda and three children, Teodore, Anton, and Annie, left Hamburg, Germany, on the Rose Henriette (Therese Henriette?) in 1853 and arrived in Galveston, Texas. From Galveston, they came and settled in the Cat Spring area in 1853. Franz Koy was an accomplished cabinet maker. Many of his descendants possess pieces of furniture that he made.
