On the sixth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-one, Charles Francis Bartigran(??), bishop of the Adoremis Frater of the Archdiocese of Quebec, has granted a dispensation of the laws of the church prohibiting the marriage of William Mitten, resident of Quebec, protestant, son of George Mitten and of deceased Elizabeth Clifford of the parish of CapSante, on the one part and Catharine Grant, a Catholick, resident of Quebec, daughter of age of Walter Grant and of Margaret Cavanagh of the county Kilkenny on the other part, whereas also the consenting parties have obtained on the third instant from the Administration of the Archdiocese dispensation of ??? publication, we undersigned are present. Vicar of St. Patrick's Church having discovered no impediment to their marriage, here received their mutual consent to the ??? in the bonds of holy matrimony in presence of James Campbell and Alice Kaugh undersigned with the bridegrooms, the bride declared she could not sign her name.
