Eli listed as 8 yrs. old born in Ohio, as well as his parents. He is listed as a boarder. And there was something after his name, possibly Jr. Copied McMillan Memorial Library, Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsisn, Nov. 1985, on inter library loan. Roll no. 623-1266. 1910 Federal Census, Prairie Twp., Franklin Co., OH, dwelling no. 95 family no.97, on Lisle Road. Eli single, 18 born in Ohio, a hired man, farm laborer, working out, could read write and speak english. Parents both born Ohio. Copied State Historical Lib., Madison, WI, June 1988. Eli is listed in the book "A Centennial Biographical History of The City of Columbus and Franklin County Ohio," as adopted by Hannah and George Lisle. Published by The Lewis Publishing Co., 1901. A copy is in my possession. This is also the family story that has come down. Possible George and Hannah had custody of him, as George is listed in the Chancery book at the Ohio Historical Society Lib., Col., OH, in a custody case, in probate court. Also a family story, is he died very young, about 16, of Tuberculosis. However, he is 18 on the 1910 Census. I also have his diploma from West Jefferson High School, West Jefferson, OH, dated 23 May 1911, to Eli F. Gatton. Eliliked to draw. I have a copy of a pencil drawing of a Chicken and her baby chicks, supposedly drawn by him. He has at least one brother Walter.
